I had originally planned for the kids and I to pack up and fly to Miami for their recent Fall Break to hang out with my hubby while he was there working but we were unsure of what damages the hurricane may have caused and what we would have been limited to enjoy.
So with the guilt I felt for leaving them for three days during their break and my constant desire for an escape of any sort I wanted my kids to enjoy their break from school by exploring a new area of our city.
While waiting on my flight to takeoff from Miami Airport I made a last minute decision and reserved a room for 3 days at the Lake Lanier Lodge, located about an hour away from our home. Once we landed in Atlanta I called the kids and told them to pack for 4 days (an extra outfit is always necessity) without any hints on what I had planned for us.
At the hotel
We hung at the pool for the most of our vacation, we rented a golf cart and completed a family scavenger hunt, competed in board games we brought from home, went on nature hikes and rolled down hills! We laughed at silly jokes, played eye spy, made new memories, and enjoyed each other without the noise of tv.
We had a great escape from chores, school work, cooking for me. It was our first staycation but it will definitely not be our last!!
